One of my favorite things about having fun colored hair is little girls’ reactions. When I had pink hair, this little girl was staring at me and her mother was prompting her to talk to me, but she was being all shy and the mother goes, “She thinks you’re beautiful.”
That was like five years ago and I still remember it.

I have always loved children’s reactions to my colored hair, especially when their parents are cool about it.

My favourite part is when they ask their parents if they can have coloured hair too and sometimes their parents say no and I’m thinking “yeeaaah, rebel against authority, tiny human!”

When I had purple hair, a little girl asked her mom why I had purple hair. I said, “I wanted to look like a My Little Pony!” and my mom asked her if she thought I did, and she said yes. It was the best moment.

Here is Mariko talking about the CoverFlilp project started by Maureen Johnson!

Disclaimer: I DO LIKE MAUREEN JOHNSON A LOT. I just think that her covers are really terrible and do not suit the content of her books at all- that’s not her fault!

bailzosaurus:

I am so sickened by how incredibly diet-obsessed and fat phobic our culture is.  These are the ads that appeared for me at the bottom of a page on popsugar.  What really gets me is two things: one, these are listed as “you might also like” indicating they had something to do what I was reading - I was on a page of yoga exercises for relieving menstrual cramps.  So apparently if you’re a female-bodied individual who is vaguely interested in Yoga you must want to lose weight.  Also, three of the five weight loss articles are filed under “healthy living”, perpetuating the myth that extreme dieting in order to lose weight quickly is healthy, and being fat is inherently unhealthy (hint: both of those things are false)

And this has been a rant about how disillusioned I am with cultural dialogue surrounding women’s appearances.

IT SAID YOU ‘MIGHT’ LIKE, NOT YOU ‘MUST’. IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT YOGA SHIT IT KINDA IMPLIES YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT.

Oh wow, sorry I assumed that there were valid reasons to like a physical activity known for it’s benefits with stress relief, chronic pain alleviation and relaxation other than wanting to lose weight.

And I’m perfectly aware of the difference between “might” and “must”, thanks.  I was simply pointing out how sad it is that society assumes every woman either wants to lose weight, or should want to.

Nice username, by the way.  Thanks for the warning, I suppose?  Too bad you can’t even spell your bigotry right though.

Today’s episode of “Hannah Kicks Misogynistic (sp?) Ass”.

Argentina JUST PASSED a groundbreaking gender identity bill!!!
From now on, people will be able to change the name and gender on their ID without needing psychiatric permission or any body modifications. Furthermore, anyone who does want hormones or surgery will be able to access them for free through the public and private health system.
It was passed unanimously today by the Senate
UNANIMOUSLY

Argentina is just getting more awesome by the year. Countries that aren’t Argentina need to take note.

Here it is! I’m not 100% sure if I like how it came out… it almost seems a bit too cutesy for the subject. Maybe I just like drawing cute clothes and bright colours too much!
This is for a contest with the Canadian Human Rights Agencies for their conference in May. All the Advanced Illustration students and Design students had to enter as part of their final. Kinda pissed that they required us to print it off at 24 x 36…. which I think is way too big and expensive ($50!!) for most students and their budget. We don’t even get to keep the posters. And the top prize is only $200. I feel kinda ripped off. :/
EDIT: A couple of people have sent me notes saying that “Transgendered” is incorrect terminology. I apologize, I kind of added the text last minute, and should have known better. I’ve uploaded a fixed version. :)

This poster is a good reminder that pronouns aren’t “preferred”. They’re NECESSARY.

If you’ve been a victim of rape or abuse of any kind, this is for you.

He’s amazing.

Holy crap. This is so inspirational.

Tears. I can’t stop crying. Your worth and your meaning is not defined by what they did and you did not deserve it.

Will forever reblog this, this is inspirational! Crying right now though..://
